Disney has announced a new promotion going on this year at the Disneyland Resort: Get Your Ears On – A Mickey and Minnie Celebration. Mickey celebrated his 90th Birthday on November 18, 2018 and this seems to be an extension of the celebrations. With some new offerings and some old things returning, it’s a fun time to visit the park.
Mickey’s Mix Magic
A new projection show will be premiering. Mickey’s Mix Magic is a high-energy show that can be viewed along Main Street, U.S.A., in front of “it’s a small world” and on the water screens of Rivers of America. “DJ” Mickey will create a family-fun dance party featuring a new song, “It’s a Good Time” and some other fan favorites. On select nights, this projection show will include fireworks.
This show is probably a test for when Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opens. Galaxy’s Edge is close to where the fireworks launch and would probably have to close during the show each night just like Toontown and parts of Fantasyland. With how popular Star Wars is, Disney is not going to want to close the land for a few hours just for a firework show. If they have a projection show that only does fireworks occasionally, then when Galaxy’s Edge opens, they could just not do fireworks. If this show is popular, expect it to stick around for a while.
“Mickey’s Soundsational Parade”
It looks like Pixar Play Parade is going to have a very short stint at Disneyland. “Mickey’s Soundsational Parade” will be returning January 25th and its coming with two new floats. Chip ‘n’ Dale will be part of the parade with a new giant celebration cake and Goofy will be pulling another new float.
Minnie’s Valentine Surprise
Disneyland Resort hasn’t typically done anything for Valentine’s Day, but this year is going to be different. A new Mickey Mouse flower “portrait” will welcome guests to Disneyland. New Valentine’s Decor will make Main Street, U.S.A. more festive. And a new scavenger hunt will be available. You can get a commemorative map and stickers at select merchandise locations, just like for the Easter Egg hunt. But instead of Eggs, you’ll be searching for valentines that Minnie has left for Mickey around the park. And, of course, if you complete the hunt, you can get a special Valentine’s surprise.
“Get Your Ears On” Celebration Dance Party
Tomorrowland Terrace will soon be taken over each evening for a dance party. Your favorite Disney characters will come out to help you move and groove to the new song “It’s a Good Time,” as well as other popular Disney songs.
Special Food, Beverages, and Merchandise
We can’t forget all the fun new food, drinks, and merchandise that comes with any special promotion. Since we are celebrating Mickey and Minnie, there will be “classic” Mickey- and Minnie-shaped foods with special twists. A celebration sipper and new popcorn buckets will also be available.
