Virtual Reality in the Disney Parks

Just a few weeks ago, Disney announced they would be partnering with The Void, a virtual reality company based out of Utah. Coming this holiday season, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire will go live at Downtown Disney and Disney Springs. This “hyper-reality experience” will let you explore a galaxy far, far away in a whole new way.

Using sight, sound, tough, smell, and motion, you’ll interact with family, friends, and even Star Wars characters. Haptic feedback will augment the experience. Haptic feedback is the way we simulate physical interaction through electronic systems. Examples you may be familiar with are phone or controller vibration in video games or the steering wheel nudges that smart cars can give drivers. This feedback will make the experience feel more realistic as you enter the Star Wars universe. We can’t wait to see how this turns out!
