We are less than a week away until Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens to the public. Disney previously announced a virtual queue would be used on days the land reaches capacity. We finally have more information for how you can join a boarding group and make sure you get to visit Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop.
Entrance to Galaxy’s Edge
Each day when the park opens, anyone will be allowed to enter Galaxy’s Edge, until it is too crowded and has reached it’s capacity. We anticipate for the first few months, this will happen very fast. Disney will then implement boarding groups. After you have entered Disneyland for the day (your ticket has been scanned) you can link your tickets to the Disneyland App. There will be an option on the app that lets you join a boarding group. Feel free to experience other attractions while you wait for your boarding groups turn. When it is time for your group, and you have push notifications turned on, you will receive an alert. You can also periodically check the Disneyland App or watch for signs around the resort. Disney will give you two hours to make your way to Galaxy’s Edge where they will scan your ticket and then let you in.
For those of you without phones, or if your phone battery dies, you can still join a boarding group in the park. A few of the FastPass machines (Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones Adventure, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Matterhorn Bobsleds) will be giving out boarding group passes. You will want to make sure you are watching the digital signs that will be scattered around the park to watch for when it is your turn.

There will be NO TIME LIMIT on your visit to Galaxy’s Edge. There will likely be people who enter in the morning and then decide to stay all day. Keep this in mind and make sure you get in a board group as soon as possible. Disney is not guaranteeing entrance to the land just because you are in a boarding group. So if you end up in one of the later groups, you may not get in.
Savi’s Workshop and Oga’s Cantina
If you want your turn rocking out to DJ Rex in Oga’s Cantina or building your own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop, you will need a reservation. At 7 a.m. on the day you are visiting the park, you will want to visit Disneyland.com/SavisWorkshop, Disneyland.com/Cantina, or the Disneyland App. You will need a valid credit card to make your reservation, and you will be charged if you don’t show up. These reservations will give you access to Galaxy’s Edge, so you won’t need to join a boarding group.
For Savi’s Workshop, make sure you check in no earlier than 60 minutes and no later than 20 minutes before your reservation. At Oga’s Cantina, you will want to check in no earlier than 15 minutes. Make sure all of your party is with you to check in.
Other Information
A few other housekeeping things to keep in mind. The parking lots will NOT be open until 6 am each morning, so don’t plan on arriving earlier than that. The new parking structure will not be done for a few more weeks, so parking will be limited. Mickey and Friends typically fills up faster, so you might want to try the Toy Story Parking Lot.
There will be no official line for Galaxy’s Edge when the park opens each morning. So arrive early, but don’t expect a nice organized line. We expect most people will want to go to this new land first, so if you don’t mind waiting just a couple hours, you will probably be able to walk on a lot of the E-tickets first thing in the morning. Just make sure you are watching the app closely so that you can join a boarding group as soon as they become available.
Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run has had a very controlled line up until this point. We do not expect that to continue. The line will likely get long and stay long, so we encourage you to get in line quickly. A single rider line is also available. FastPass will not be available at this time, and probably won’t be added until boarding groups are no longer needed.
