Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Opening Dates Announced

We have been waiting for months to find out when we’d finally be able to go into Galaxy’s Edge. There have been rumors of a June opening in Disneyland and a December opening in Walt Disney World. Surprisingly, Disney seems to be ahead of schedule. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open on May 31 in Disneyland and August 29 at Hollywood Studios.

At 14 acres each, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be Disney’s largest single-themed land expansions ever, transporting guests to live their own Star Wars adventures in Black Spire Outpost, a village on the remote planet of Batuu, full of unique sights, sounds, smells and tastes. Guests can become part of the story as they sample galactic food and beverages, explore an intriguing collection of merchant shops and take the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Phase One and Two

Since the date was moved up, this new land will open in two phases. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, the shops and the restaurants will be ready for on opening day for phase one. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance seems to have run into a few hiccups, so it won’t be ready until phase two. We don’t have an official opening date other than the vague “later this year.” Both lands will have this two phase opening, so don’t expect Rise of the Resistance to open until late fall.

Reservations

Star Wars fans have been anxiously awaiting the opening of Galaxy’s Edge and you can bet that there are thousands of people who will want to visit Batuu as soon as it opens. Thankfully, Disney has decided to create a reservation system for those wanting to visit Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland between May 31 and June 23, 2019. We don’t know how those reservations will work, but more information will be released as we get closer to May 31. We do know that if you stay at one of the Disneyland Resort hotels, you will be guaranteed a reservation. Make sure you book quickly because those rooms are sure to sell out fast!
