Pixar Pier is opening in just three and a half months. Most, but not all, of the pier will be completed when it opens. After a lot of rumors, Walt Disney Imagineering has released more concept art and more concrete facts. Let’s take a walk around the pier and see what Pixar Pier has in store for us.
Lamplight Lounge
Many of you will be excited to know that Cove Bar’s famous lobster nachos will be returning at a new Lamplight Lounge. This new restaurant will include the old Cove Bar and Ariel’s Grotto. The upstairs level will act as a lounge with cocktails and light meals. A larger menu will be available downstairs. Jeffrey Shaver-Moskowitz, an Imagineer, said it will be a “place where Pixar animators come after work.” You may find sketches on the walls or napkins.
The main entrance to Pixar Pier, just outside the lounge, will feature an animatronic Luxo Jr., which will welcome guests to the pier.
Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats
The old Paradise Pier Ice Cream Company will become the Abominable Snowman from Monsters, Inc. The menu will likely be similar, but some yummy “lemon” frozen treats will be available.
Incredibles Neighborhood
As many of you already know, California Screamin’ is being rethemed as the Incredicoaster. The story will be that Jack-Jack, exploring his new powers, roams around the coaster while his family tries to catch him. The scream tunnels will be enclosed for show elements.
Toy Story Neighborhood
Toy Story Midway Mania! Will receive a new paint job but otherwise will stay the same.
The old carousel is going to become Jessie’s Critter Carousel, complete with cute animals to ride. Many of these animals are prizes from Toy Story Midway Mania!
Don Tomas Turkey Legs will be rethemed as a huge carton of take-out chicken called the Poultry Palace.
The churro stand will even be rethemed to Buzz Lightyear. Disneyland is getting its own “mini” Toy Story Land.
Pixar Promenade
As you walk out of the Toy Story Neighborhood, you’ll find the 4 arcade games. Bullseye Stallion Stampede isn’t being changed because it is already Pixar. But soon you’ll be able to play WALL-E Space Spin, La Luna Star Catcher, and Heimlich Candy Corn Toss.
Pixar Pals
As you continue down the boardwalk, you will find a bandstand and character meet and greets where you can meet your favorite Pixar characters.
Shops
Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff will be a candy shop complete with slushies and a variety of candies. The Treasures in Paradise will become Knick’s Knacks.
Mickey’s Fun Wheel
Although Mickey’s face will remain on the Ferris wheel, it will receive a nice new coat of bright blue paint. The gondola cars will feature new Pixar Characters from some of our favorite movies. Though we don’t know for sure, the pictures on the construction walls may be the ones that end up on the Ferris wheel.
Inside Out Neighborhood
We don’t have many details about this last area. There will be a hot dog stand themed to Anger.
The concept art also shows an “Inside Out” attraction located on the old Maliboomer platform. It does look quite a bit like Flik’s Flyers. Though it is still just a rumor, we may see A Bug’s Land closing in the next few years and Flik’s Fliers being moved and rethemed as the new Inside Out attraction.
Paradise Park
The remaining attractions from the Silly Symphony Swings down to the Little Mermaid ride will become Paradise Park. No changes to this area have been announced.
One thought on “Pixar Pier Updates”
It sounds like they do have a nice plan for it. It’s always sad to see things go, but I’ll one day reminisce about Pixar Pier, too.
