Welcome to Pixar Pier!

It’s Pixar time at the Disneyland Resort. With Pixar Fest in full swing and Pixar Pier opening tomorrow, you will definitely get your fill of Pixar. Unfortunately, not all of Pixar Pier will be opening, but read through the article for some new information on what is coming in 2019.

Pixar Fest

Pixar Fest debuted back in May with new fireworks, updated parades and lots of delicious foods. Mickey’s Soundsational Parade is taking a break while Pixar Play Parade gets a chance to travel down Main Street.

The new floats make the parade even better. It’s fun for the whole family, but the kids will especially love it.

Paint the Night has finally returned to the Disneyland Resort, but it also traded parks and is now making it’s run in California Adventure. Due to height restrictions in the park, they had to take out Elsa’s castle. But this weekend, a brand-new Incredibles float debuted, and it looks amazing! This parade will have you tapping your foot to the catchy tune “When Can I See You Again” from Wreck-It Ralph.

One of the best parts of Pixar Fest is all the new food options. There are tons of new things to try throughout the resort. Check out the Disney Blog for a complete list. On our last visit we got to try a few of the offerings, and they were delicious.

I’d have to say our favorite was Jessie’s Berry Jubilee Funnel Cake found at the Stage Door Café.

They even converted Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port to Pizza Planet, complete with little green men hiding throughout the restaurant. The retheming is on the light side, but we do hope it will last after Pixar Fest is over.

Pixar Pier

Pixar Pier brings some new attractions and some great new food offerings. First on the list is the Incredicoaster!

The coaster itself is unchanged from California Screamin’, but now it’s themed to the Incredibles. We love the theming and having these great characters in the park, but we wish they would have spent a little more time on it. The theming seems to be lacking a little. You can definitely tell this was an existing rollercoaster with some light retheming. We would have loved to see more detailed show scenes and maybe even a few moving characters. We do realize that theming an outdoor rollercoaster is quite difficult, and given how fast they finished it, they did pretty good. Toy Story Midway Mania received a new paint of coat but is otherwise the same. Thankfully, they did add more shade to the queue.

The Pixar Pal-A-Round will also be opening with a new coat of paint and its new name. They also added more shade to this queue, which is a welcome addition.

There are a lot of great food options in Pixar Pier as well. The “adorable” snowman opened up a few weeks ago and it was instantly a hit.

Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums has three cookie options (chocolate chip, shortbread, and a gluten-free blackberry jam-filled cookie). The delicious smell of chocolate chip cookies is going to make it a very popular place.

Angry Dogs will feature a new Angry Dog with hot fries or a not-so-spicy Slightly Annoyed Dog with potato chips.

Señor Buzz Churros will offer the new Caliente Churro, a churro with a spicy kick to it.

Poultry Palace will feature Chicken Drumsticks with coleslaw and the famous Jumbo Smoked Turkey Legs.

Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff, unfortunately, will not be opening tomorrow with the rest of Pixar Pier. Slated to open later this summer, it will be a very sweet place with all the sweet things you can imagine. It will serve all the delicious treats offered in the rest of the park, like caramel apples, flavored popcorn, and cake pops. It will also feature saltwater taffy and some new frozen drinks called Memory Refreshers. They sound quite delicious and will come in a variety of flavors and colors.

Lamplight Lounge will likely be the most popular food spot in the pier. Home to the famous Lobster Nachos, and with a new menu, lounge, and full restaurant, it is sure to be a favorite. The artwork will also be fun to look at since it will have some great concept art for many of our favorite characters.

Coming Attractions

Jessie's Critter Carousel Concept Art

Jessie’s Critter Carousel, though previously announced for this summer, will not be opening until 2019. It looks like it is taking longer than anticipated and it won’t be ready, which is a bummer. The critters look pretty cute, and we are excited to see them next year.

Like any change at the Disney parks, Pixar Pier went through many revisions, which of course led to many rumors about what would be included. One of those rumors has now been officially announced. In the concept art we could see a new Inside Out attraction. It looks like we are definitely getting that new attraction and it will be opening with Jessie’s Critter Carousel in 2019. And just like the rumors, the new concept art makes it look like Flik’s Flyers will indeed be moved and rethemed.

Guests will be able to enter Inside Out Headquarters before getting to ride the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind! We are happy they will finally be using the old Mali-BOOM-er Pad. We are also happy that we get to keep a small part of A Bug’s Land, even if it looks different.
