The Carousel of Progress - Part I describes the early concept of the Carousel of Progress and how it evolved on its way to the Magic Kingdom. EPCOT In many ways, the idea of Epcot grew out of the ideals of the Carousel of Progress. The Carousel was made to celebrate the development of technology and how it was improving people's lives. Disney's Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow was designed to showcase the technologies of the future. Walt designed the city to be used as both an industrial center and a tourist attraction; companies would come to build factories and offices to the highest advancements in capabilities and methods. Visitors would see the techniques, and take them back to their communities. EPCOT was conceived as a hub for innovation diffusion.
