Tangled at Disneyland May Signal More Attractions Based on Recent Films

Storybook Land Disneyland will be getting another update soon. Rapunzel's Tower, along with some floating lights will be added between the patchwork quilt from Silly Symphony and Toad Hall.

With this scene from Tangled coming on the heels of Tiana's Bayou Adventure, this is an indication that Disney is looking to the properties of their success around the 2010s for new attractions in the Parks. With Frozen being the obvious exception that was built quickly after the film, nothing permanent was built in the American parks for these films until Tiana's Bayou Adventure, which was based on the unreleased Disney plus show Tiana rather than on antics of the Frog. Rapunzel's tower here is clearly based on the film rather than the TV series. But mix these attractions with the openings of international Frozen lands, Zootopia attractions, Big Hero 6 at California Adventure, and the Tangled mini land, and it is evident that the Imagineers are looking back 15 years for strong stories. There is an opportunity for Tangled or Wreck-It Ralph to be part of Disneyland's upcoming expansion plans.

When Stitch's Great Escape closed at the Magic Kingdom, there were rumors that at Wreck-It Ralph Attraction was being considered for that space. Those rumors resurfaced with the Play pavilion for Epcot. This is more evidence that Disney could have success with more attractions from properties of this era.

So far, this attraction has managed to squeeze more characters and scenes in. It's getting to the point that this will need to end, and something will have to be removed. But we'll enjoy the expansion while we can.
